In 2016, Lucie Koldová opened the door to more yet unexplored spheres in her work. And, like several years ago, when she began with glass despite having no previous experience at all, she has again managed to cope amazingly with new subjects and materials. This especially concerns the hand sewn-in carpets and plastic accessories of the collection Flint, created for the brand Lexon. The plastic, inspired by the shape of flint, literally begs to be weighed in one's hand and stroked, equally as our predecessors did with the worked stone. Lucie did not approach the hand-tufted carpets Brush for the French brand Chevalier edition in a traditional way, either. Gambling on a hand-made sketch, she "layered" the individual colors as if adding more and more brushstrokes in order to arrive at a 3D effect.
And glass? As far as glass is concerned, Lucie – in her role of the creative director of the Brokis brand - extended the range of the Janštejn glassworks with the collection Puro (named after the Spanish expression for a cigar, "puro"), consisting of ambient minimalist suspended lights. The simple looking, but the more difficult-to-produce light tubes can be arbitrarily assembled into verticals and horizontals according to one's own fantasy, as well as the dimensions of the available space. The playfulness and dynamics are then based on the combination of the diffused light of cigars and "bells". Because Lucie, who loves order and tidiness, knows how to play - with materials, shapes, and colors - wanting to give the same chance to others as well.
