No matter how Jiří Franta and David Böhm do their best to avoid illustration, they keep returning to it. Although they are mainly active in the field of free art, they both have several children's book bestsellers to their credit, such as Head in a Head and The Hippo's Silence illustrated by David Böhm, and the publication Why Paintings Don't Need Titles illustrated by Jiří Franta. The aim of the publications they work on is to make children see the world as they themselves do a good, tolerant and playful one, while this playfulness is pretty clearly apparent in their work.

The two cooperated on the Guide to a Restless Territory, which came out under the auspices of the Labyrint publishing house. The book makes the complex world of modern art accessible and familiar to both young and adult readers in comprehensible and amusing ways, and abounds with the authors' illustrations, cartoons and collages.
