"I have created a world based on my infantile frame of mind, depicting the child in me," explains designer Michal Strach, describing the project which won the Diploma Selection Award for the best diploma (graduation) work presented at Designblok.

With his graduation work at the AAAD, Michal was aiming to discover his own inner world which could later become the platform for his future work. Michal's space is made up of everyday objects which he has interconnected to give them a new context, scale and aesthetic. "I was looking for shapes and materials that I could use and when I found out that a shape or material fitted in well, I kept it in the installation." Even though some objects keep their original forms, Michal has transformed the other objects to better correspond with his idea. The final arrangement is the result of several weeks of compiling, testing and assembling. Its combination of pastel colours, yoghurt cups, paper wheels, bowls and soaps leads us into a sensuous children's world. Featuring soap sport cars, a steam boat of chalks, a paper airplane, a lighthouse made from cuttings and geometric trees made from papier-mâché, Michal's world consists of three parts - Airport, Seaport and Dream Factory. "My inner space reflects a world in which society produces dreams only. Its main component, the Dream Factory, creates dream material. One's dream becomes reality," says Michal.
