"To perceive clothes as sculpture in motion, as a search for shapes, contexts and themes..." Liběna Rochová
If there is one person who has had an enormous and crucial impact on Czech fashion, it is Liběna Rochová. In one capacity, she is a designer of highly original couture clothes. And in another, she is a very successful teacher as the head of the Fashion and Footwear Design Studio at the AAAD in Prague, she has taught many remarkable young fashion designers who have broken through both in the Czech Republic and abroad. Vision, determination, perfectionism, doggedness, persistence and the unwillingness to compromise on her work – these are the keys to her success. But it wouldn't be Liběna if she weren't able to preserve part of her energy and creativity and invest it into her own projects outside the university. Twice a year, she presents limited seasonal collections designed for her brand. Featuring elaborated concepts, her collections are intimate, highly abstract, sculptural and non-commercial, yet generous and appealing to her clients. Subtly inspired by artist Milan Grygar's work, her Partitury collection is exceptional. She shows shows a unifying clarity of intent throughout in presenting a pointed narrative that develops forms to be presented on the catwalk. DOX hosted this truly unique fashion show, rivalling those in Milan and Paris.
