Designing for children has long been firmly tied with most various aesthetic clichés. Filip Mirbauer and Pavla Boháčková, however, managed to free it from the traditional - multicolored and plastic – customary practice. They are both signed under the new project, Miminum, which they first presented at this year's Designblok.
The duo designed a series of toys for the smallest children and accompanied it with a visually specific cradle. The feature which makes them stand out from the commonplace assortment of children's products is especially. the original selection of material: Mirbauer and Boháčková chose corka light and at the same time durable material, which makes the resulting objects both aesthetically attractive and practical.
The simple toys from the Miminum collection should be a baby's first encounter with the world of objects. And exactly the austere, undisturbed geometric shape turned out to be a great choice for this purpose. The senses of the toy's little owner are developed by the metal balls hidden inside, which amuse them with their rattling sound. The fundamental asset which the duo of designers brought this year, however, is a cork cradle, fully functional and beautiful at the same time. The contrast between cork as a natural material and the rounded metal base makes the bed a distinct solitaire having the potential to highlight every interior. Due to the inner variable arrangement, the bed can be used for quite a long period of time as the child grows – just either remove or add one of the layers of stuffing. Miminum definitely is not the necessary minimum you can get for your child; on the contrary, it is a highly sophisticated choice for all conscious and demanding parents.
