The jury decided that the Sázava-based Kavalier glassworks, with a fine tradition of laboratory, household and technical glass-making stretching back over 177 years, more than deserved their award. As part of the Kavalier Design project, Dechem studio was asked to collaborate with the glassworks resulting in an extensive collection – Laboratory Lights featuring shapes derived from selected semi-finished products made from Simax laboratory glass. Kavalier is the world leader in processing this material. Michaela Tomišková and Jakub Janďourek use iconic forms within interior design spaces, interpreting them in new ways by designing very delicate and pleasing features, typical of the Dechem studio.
