Milan Pekař studied at the AAAD in Prague from 2000 to 2006 and proved to be one of its most talented designers. He has always approached projects from an inventive, interesting, yet contemplative fine-art and philosophical perspective. His graduation work took the form of a plastic hothouse, filled with luxuriant well-kept plants complemented with vases in the form of factories and sculptures of cargo ships and palm trees. The Museum of Decorative Arts made every effort to add one of these porcelain objects to its collection directly through the designer. However, eventually they had to buy through Qubus because Milan Pekař was, let's just say, hard to get hold of. In fact, he seemed lost to the design world...although he was seen from time to time at various events in the company of a very beautiful Korean artist. He emerged several years later – in 2011 – as an assistant at the AAAD Ceramics and Porcelain Studio led by Maxim Velčovský and proved to be an excellent and understanding teacher. With his creative break behind him, he surprised all last year with a new work. Coming out of extensive research, he has produced some extraordinarily beautiful porcelain vases covered with crystalline glazes. In so doing, he has revived and developed an old method which has huge potential for various fine-art applications. His vases are so popular that they are now selling like hot cakes. Milan is back!
