Vendula Knopová is one of those people who always tries to be herself and as honest as she can, even in the most difficult of situations. Her specific sense of humour is rooted in a youth spent with her parents and six siblings in a remote house by a forest. In her latest publication entitled Tutorial, she returns to the childhood predicaments in which she and her siblings found themselves and the various activities they got up to that proved highly unpopular with their parents entirely due of course to the lack of any opportunities for "urban entertainment". Her sense of humour is one of the key features in her current work and for which she has become a highly sought-after photographer, currently nominated for the Czech Grand Design Award for the Brno based TIC Gallery's visuals. Instead of taking traditional photos of exhibits from the gallery, she photographed the legendary remote controls held by the gallery guards and binders filled with potato chips left there after a vernissage. Entitled Anketa, the TIC Gallery yearbook formed part of the assignment in which various contemporary artists were asked questions about local work conditions and social issues – with Vendula's staged photographs providing the perfect complement to their answers.
