The Traveller collection, co-developed by the Tilak producer of outdoor clothing and the Boa design studio, is a perfectly elaborated fusion of high-quality local design and industry in the field of fashion -–i.e. the seemingly incompatible worlds of design and Czech outdoor. It is rather characteristic that the elegant Traveller line has to date mainly enjoyed ovations abroad, being first successfully presented in Japan where it is already available in stores. No wonder, since the Japanese are known to have a refined liking for clothes that are minimalist and at the same time perfectly made from the technical aspect, while the Czech lands unfortunately keep abounding in gaudy colors and cheap Asian production in the field of sportswear.
The 2016 Desingblok hosted the Traveller collection, now aimed at the Czech market, and completely produced in the Czech Republic. The basic items of a streetwear wardrobe trousers, sweatshirts, jackets and caps – were photographed on two local devotees of the athleisure trend, designers Jan Čapek and Roman Vrtiška.
The Tilak products belong among the top ranks of outdoor clothing, due to, among other things, the fact that the company is authorized to work with the Gore-tex material and also use the trademark (it was the only one in the Czech Republic which met the Gore company strict criteria). As far as the standard collections are concerned, everything begins with precise preparatory works, participated in by the Munich design studio Acronym. The designers from the Boa studio – Michaela Vrátníková and Petr Mikošek – found their source of inspiration in the very functionality of the materials employed, such as Ventile, Gore-tex and Polartec, and focused on smart practical details and timeless design, also because Tilak has a four-year guarantee for its products.
