Some say that everything just keeps repeating anyway, and wait for what comes on its own. Some go into history and seek inspiration in tried and tested archives. Others rely on their own imagination and enlightened ideas. Lukáš Spilka does not fear leaving for a pretty long journey – as far as to Mars. Things have changed a lot there; the planet is now quite naturally populated by people who are far from ignoring fashion. They walk around clad in Lukáš's collection, dominated by firm metallic materials, face masks and interlaced ropes which jointly create an unexpected and refined effect when the almost military severity smoothly co-exists with free-minded exuberance. We have known about the emphatic and peculiar talent of this Antwerp student for a long time, and this is definitely his most mature work. At least for the moment being. The director Denis Villeneuve is now working on his own version of David Lynch's iconic sci-fi film, Dune. And all the costumes are just here, right at hand.
