Time as an elementary attribute and as a unit of our existence has become the basis of no less than two collections by Klára Šípková, albeit each of them follows a totally different mood and context. The Lunar Phases miniseries of brooches, which abstractly captures the phases and the eeriness of the Moon, explores eternity or timelessness and its cyclical character. Employing Barissol and Dural, the designer has created the pieces in such a way as to let daylight keep completing and changing her objects throughout the day on a time-collecting basis. The collection Crash then examines fractions of a second – the moment when the world is turning upside down and things are receiving new meanings. The initial material here became the carbon frame of a road bicycle which had "experienced" a fatal blow in a crash with a car. A personal tragedy being recast into a jewellery edition – bracelets, brooches and necklaces - thus eternally conserves disconcertion, fear and pain, but also the strength to go on.
